Dr. Omar Sheikhmous visits Department of External Relations

Kurdish politician Dr. Omar Sheikhmous visited the Department of External Relations of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, where he was received by the department’s co-chairs, Ilham Ahmed and Fener Al-Ka’it, the deputy co-chair Gulistan Ali, member of the administrative body Khaled Ibrahim, the Autonomous Administration’s representative to the Gulf states, Sihanouk Dibou, and its representative in Damascus, Abdul Karim Omar.

During the visit, Dr. Sheikhmous highlighted the efforts of the people of North and East Syria, stating: “This achievement is the result of your great efforts. Today, the balances in the region are changing, and my hope is great.”

He also addressed relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government and North and East Syria, adding: “We sought to further strengthen relations regarding the border crossing and to open the door to broader social, political, and economic relations.”

The meeting later continued away from the cameras.

Dr. Sheikhmous was born in the city of Amuda in the Jazira Canton in 1942. He is a prominent Kurdish political figure and one of the founders of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, and he previously worked in the party’s Political Bureau and External Relations Office.
