As a continuation of the systematic destruction of the cultures of the peoples of North Syria and to follow the approach of ISIS, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries had desecrated the shrines, destroyed archeological sites and antiquities  as well as all the Kurdish characteristics in Afrin, including the vandalizing and desecration of the cemetery containing the remains of Dr. Nouri Dersimi in Hanan Shrine of Shera district.

"The main goal of the Turkish dictatorship is to kill the identity of the other and to exclude and erase the cultures of the peoples of the area," said Osama Ahmed, head of the Intellectuals Union in Afrin canton.

He said that the Turkish occupation is trying to maintain a certain identity and race in the area to protect its plans, in addition to attributing the history of the area to itself politically, ideologically and nationally.

"After the bombing of historic sites and archaeological sites dating back thousands of years in Afrin, this brutal policy and exclusionary mentality continued when it began to bombard the shrines of the martyrs and all the historical landmarks in the area, all these actions are proofs that indict the AKP, this government exceeded all human and moral values, exceeded the peoples of the area and international standards and the Charter of Human Rights."

A legacy culture and a continuing on ISIS approach

Ahmad explained that the methods followed by the Turkish occupation are proof of Ottoman culture and is considered a continuation of the approach of IS mercenaries for the destruction of all archaeological and historical sites. "Turkey has recently desecrated the grave of Kurdish intellectual Nuri Dersmi, this is no wonder, this culture is not the product of the moment, contrarily , it dates back hundreds of years, it does not aim at its person or its name but it targets a whole people and the existence of a nation through this personality. "

For his part, a member of the Intellectuals Union in Afrin canton, Haitham Mustafa, noted that the actions of the "fascist"  Turkish state stemmed from its hatred of the intellectual and cultural development of the peoples of the area and a direct targeting of Kurdish intellectual and cultural personality.

"All these violations against the Kurdish people do not condemn us, they condemn them, and they are a source of strength, not weakness," Mustafa said. "We tell them there are thousands of Nouri Dersimi alive who will face this mentality."

Mustafa said at the end of his speech that the Turkish occupation targeted the tomb of Nouri Dirsimi because he put some intellectual and cultural foundations to intervene in the service of humanity.
