Tabqa Women: Democracy secures Syria’s future

For decades, Syrians endured marginalization and exclusion, which fueled violent conflicts and spilled much blood. Today, many citizens place their hopes on a democratic system that can establish a new Syria, where all are equal without discrimination or exclusion.

Khawla al-Abbas, a resident of Tabqa, said that Syria had long suffered under policies of exclusion and neglect of certain regions and communities. She emphasized that building a new Syria requires the active participation of all its people in state institutions and Autonomous Administration enabling development in their regions and shaping the country’s future on democratic foundations that embrace diverse perspectives.

Taghreed al-Abdullah noted that Syria cannot rise again if it continues with the same mindset that prevailed in the past. She called for a new, democratic Syria that embraces all of its sons and daughters, granting every community the right to manage its own affairs and determine its future.

Similarly, Siran al-Ahmed underscored that the long war and its devastating conflicts were a direct consequence of centralized governance. She argued that Syria’s future depends on decentralization and democracy, which can create space for all Syrians without marginalization or exclusion.

She concluded that democratization is the true guarantee for coexistence among Syria’s components and the foundation for building a united homeland.
