Women’s reactions against the attacks on Kurdish symbols and photographs of female and male martyrs in the Ghuwayran neighborhood of Hasakah city on Tuesday continue to grow.

Condemnation

Çilila Abdulrahman stressed that targeting Kurdish symbols and photographs of female and male martyrs is unacceptable and condemnable, describing these acts as an attack on women's struggle and achievements. She emphasized that such practices would not deter women from upholding their rights and continuing their struggle to defend their freedom and dignity.

She explained that these attacks would not weaken women's resolve but would instead strengthen their determination to defend their rights and achievements against mindsets that seek to marginalize women and restrict their role in society and political, military and social life.

Çilila called on the security authorities to hold those responsible for the attacks accountable and investigate those who incited them. She warned that such provocative acts threaten regional stability and social peace and seek to drag the region into prolonged conflicts.

Continuing the struggle in the footsteps of female and male martyrs

For her part, Atiya Haji stressed that targeting photographs of female and male martyrs constitutes an attack on the path of free women and the principles of coexistence among the region's communities.

She said such actions are unacceptable and cannot be tolerated because they undermine the symbols of struggle, dignity and coexistence. Women's rights, achievements and symbols of their struggle, she added, are red lines that cannot be compromised or violated.

She called on the relevant authorities and security forces to hold those responsible for the attacks accountable, noting that targeting these symbols and photographs undermines the values for which women and martyrs fought.

She concluded by reaffirming the commitment to continuing the struggle and resistance in the footsteps of free women. Remembering all the female martyrs of freedom, she stressed the importance of upholding the principles for which they sacrificed their lives and continuing to defend women's freedom, achievements and the Democratic Nation project.

Calls to hold perpetrators and instigators accountable

Meanwhile, Dunya Mohammed condemned the attacks, noting that they followed an earlier incident in which a sign depicting the braid of a Kurdish female fighter was attacked in Hasakah.

Dunya said these acts reflect a mindset that rejects women's role and seeks to undermine their achievements and symbols of struggle. She stressed that targeting photographs of female martyrs and symbols representing the history of women's resistance goes beyond defacing images; it also attacks the values and principles for which women have fought and the position they have achieved through the sacrifices of female martyrs and years of women's struggle.

Dunya called on the relevant authorities and security forces to hold the perpetrators accountable and pursue legal action against them. She stressed that these provocative acts are unacceptable and that targeting symbols of struggle will not deter women from continuing their path and defending their rights and achievements.
