For seven months, the delegations of the Kurdish National Unity Parties (PYNK) and the Kurdish National Council ENKS have been holding talks for the unity of the Kurdish ranks in Rojava. Up to ten meetings have been held between the two sides, the last of which was on September 20.
A member of the discussion committee within the delegation of the Kurdish national unity parties, Sama Bekdash, explained that the discussions during the past meetings were being conducted according to Dohuk Agreement, and said: "At the beginning we discussed the Kurdish authority."
Supreme Kurdish reference ′
Sama Bekdash revealed that after ten meetings between the two sides (the Kurdish National Unity Parties PYNK and the Kurdish National Council ENKS). The Kurdish reference topic has been completed. She said: "It was named the supreme Kurdish authority, in addition to agreeing on 6 articles that include the tasks and powers of the reference in the future regarding the Kurdish issue, the occupied areas, and work for the forcible return of the displaced from their homes in Afrin, Serêkaniyê/ Ras-al-Ain and Tal-Abyed and drawing up the Kurdish political and strategy in Syria and how The representation of the Kurds in Syria and the international event, how women are represented within the reference, how to protect the gains that have been achieved, especially those of women, and how to issue decisions, in addition to setting up the internal system.
The reference consists of 40 members
Sama Bekdash stated that it was agreed that the number of the Supreme Kurdish Authority members would be 40 people, 16 of them from the PYNK Kurdish National Unity Parties and 16 from the Kurdish National Council ENKS, and the remaining eight would be determined by the National Unity Parties to determine 4 of them and the Council determines the other 4, provided where they are from outside the two frameworks (i.e., independents, political parties, and civil society institutions).
Sama Bekdash denied the rumors and gossip that some media promoted about the survival of the Kurdish Progressive Democratic Party in Syria and the Kurdish Democratic Unity Party in Syria outside the reference point, and she said: “There was no discussion in this regard during the meetings, on the contrary, we would like everyone to participate in the talks. Because in the event that any party or entity remains outside the framework of national unity, it will definitely be incomplete, and the door is open for everyone to join. "
Sama Bekdash denied the allegations promoted by some media outlets regarding the establishment of the reference, and she said: “The reference has not been established yet, a discussion has been made regarding it. It will be agreed upon when the discussion on all issues such as autonomous administration and military forces is completed and applied on the ground, and signed before sides."
