Deir ez-Zor marks 22nd anniversary of PYD

Under the slogan “Together to Build the Democratic Syrian Republic,” the PYD in Deir ez-Zor held a ceremony marking its 22nd anniversary. The event was attended by members of the Deir ez-Zor Civil Council, representatives of the Executive Council committees, women’s committees, and the Armenian Council in the province.

The ceremony began with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs. This was followed by the reading of a message from PYD leader Abdullah Ocalan to Arab tribes in Syria, delivered by Jassim Al-Hour, co-chair of the PYD in Deir ez-Zor.

The message outlined the party’s high objectives and its vision for establishing a just democratic system that includes all and promotes peace and coexistence among the various segments of society.

A speech on behalf of the Martyrs’ Families Council was delivered by Huda Al-Ghannam, member of the Legislative Council’s presidium, commemorating the martyrs and their sacrifices in defending and liberating the nation.

Co-chair of the PYD, Pervin Yusuf, stated: “Our party’s mission is to build an inclusive democratic project that rejects exclusion and marginalization, making coexistence the foundation for a new nation based on justice and equality. We have chosen the path of the Democratic Nation because we believe Syria cannot be built on a single ethnicity or religion, but through genuine partnership among all communities.”

Yusuf further emphasized that the Syrian crisis has proven that tyranny and obstinacy only lead to further chaos and division. “The only path to a solution is national dialogue and drafting a new democratic constitution that guarantees freedom, justice, and the political and social rights of all communities,” she added.

Concluding her speech, Yusuf reaffirmed the PYD’s commitment to the March 10 Agreement as a national and practical choice, describing it as a foundation to build trust among all Syrian forces and communities and to pave the way for a broad democratic front capable of achieving a just political solution.

Representatives of the Deir ez-Zor Civil Council also delivered speeches praising the historical and ongoing role of the PYD in protecting rights and promoting comprehensive development in the region. They stressed the importance of continued cooperation among all communities to strengthen stability and prosperity in Deir ez-Zor and Syria as a whole.
