Continued ceasefire violations in Sweida and communications outages

In a new violation of the US-sponsored ceasefire agreement in Sweida, transitional government forces and affiliated armed groups targeted the town of Atil, north of Sweida city, with heavy machine guns from their positions in the Rima Hazem and Mansoura areas west of the governorate on Monday night.

According to field sources, the first attack occurred at 11:23 PM on August 4, when groups stationed in Mansoura opened fire on civilian homes in the town of Atil. A second breach followed minutes later.

Only 20 minutes later, the town of Ara was targeted with mortar shells at 11:43 PM from points under the control of transitional government forces, a repeated violation of the fragile truce agreement.

These developments come at a time when Sweida is experiencing repeated outages of telecommunications and internet services, with no official explanation yet for the reasons, exacerbating the suffering of residents amidst the security uncertainty.

These violations are added to a series of daily violations, amid the absence of a clear mechanism to ensure compliance with the declared ceasefire agreement.
