Human rights organization: Turkish mercenaries kidnap Afrin people, demand their families to pay ransom in Turkish lira

The organization said in a report published today about the mercenaries' kidnapping of a number of civilians, that "the militants of Soqor al-Shemal faction of the Turkish occupation kidnapped more than ten Kurdish citizens from Gamruk village in Mobata district on 08/17/2020, demanding their families to pay a ransom in exchange for their release.

Among the citizens who were kidnapped were "1- Adnan Zakaria Hassen and Salwa 35 years old, 2- Ahmed Zakaria Hassen and Salwa 38 years old, 3- Abdel Rahman Abdo Ahmo 75 years old who was released today after paying a ransom of 1,000 Turkish liras, 4- Luqman Khalil Ahmo and Arziyeh 35 years old, 5- Abdo Hassen Rasool and Zainab 75 years old, 6- Zaki Khoja Ali and Benefsh 62 years old, 7- Kamal Hassen Ahmad and Manish 62 years old."

The organization added: "Every ten people are kidnapped as a group by the faction's gunmen on charges of guarding the village checkpoints, even the elderly during the previous Autonomous Administration, and Soqor al-Shemal armed men demanded the kidnapped to pay a ransom money in exchange for their release, exclusively in Turkish lira of 1,000 Turkish liras, and they are still being kidnapped by the faction until now, except for Abdel Rahman Abdo Ahmo who paid the ransom and was released today. Furthermore, the kidnapping campaign is still ongoing in the village."
