Clans 'sheikhs in al-Raqqa asserted their support for SDF against IS

The clan's elders, sheikhs of the area and the commanders of SDF attended the meeting.

The meeting began with holding a minute of silence, followed by several speeches by military commanders and clans' elders. The military commanders pointed out that the resumption of al-Jazeera Tempest campaign in Deir ez-Zor aims at liberating the remaining of the Syrian territories from IS mercenaries and eradicating terrorism in the area. The Syrian regime and its militias attempt to block the campaign through launching attacks on SDF's positions and the liberated villages, asserting that SDF forces responded to these attacks, defeated and dealt them painful blows, and the forces insist on pursuing the campaign to eliminate the remaining of IS mercenaries in the area to restore safety and stability to it.

The speeches also referred to the Turkish army and its mercenaries’ aggression on Afrin canton which also represents an attempt of them to prolong IS' and the terrorist gangs’ life in Syria.

Al-Sheikh Hamad al-Sheikh Shehadeh, one of al-Raqqa clans’ Sheikhs said, "The new Ottoman occupation of the Turkish state aims at occupying Syria, returning its crimes to the area, committing massacres against our Syrian people, changing the demographic of our areas, and creating strives among the components of the Syrian people."

Al-Sheikh Hamad al-Sheikh Shehadeh added, "We will resist beside our sons and daughters from SDF until the terrorism would be defeat, and all the schemes which aim at undermining the gains of our people which were achieved by the martyrs’ blood would be aborted.”

SDF commanders concluded the meeting by confirming that their forces will not give up any inch liberated by the blood of the martyrs, and will continue their campaign to liberate all areas of the Syrian north from mercenaries and occupiers.
