Perwin Youssef: Efforts ongoing to strengthen Kurdish delegation, reinforce Kurdish–Kurdish dialogue.

A meeting of Kurdish parties was held on Sunday in Qamishlo to discuss issues related to the region and ways to strengthen Kurdish unity and common political positions, with the participation of 27 Kurdish parties and movements, except for parties of the Kurdish National Council. The meeting, hosted at the headquarters of the Democratic Union Party, was held away from media coverage.

During the meeting, Perwin Youssef, co-chair of the Democratic Union Party, spoke to ANHA agency about the content and objectives of the gathering.

Youssef said: “After the conference held on 26 April last year, with the participation of Kurdish political parties and forces, one of its key outcomes was the formation of a Kurdish delegation representing the Kurdish cause and serving as the main interlocutor in negotiations, particularly with Damascus. However, the response from Damascus from the outset was a refusal to recognize this delegation.”

She added: “This is aimed at preventing the existence of a joint delegation representing all Kurds in the process of building a new Syria. On this basis, this meeting was held to inform Kurdish political forces and parties of the realities of the current situation.”

In her remarks, Perwin Youssef emphasized that the delegation’s objective had been to travel to Damascus, but this has not yet been achieved. She said: “Therefore, through this meeting, we sought to listen to appropriate views and proposals on how to address this situation, and to discuss mechanisms for activating the delegation, in addition to implementing the joint decisions previously taken during the conference.”

In conclusion, the co-chair of the Democratic Union Party, Perwin Youssef, reaffirmed that the central point of discussions focused on how to activate the Kurdish delegation and the need to maintain ongoing communication and dialogue among all Kurdish forces and political parties.
