In a joint statement issued by five political parties, an organization, and an association active in Eastern Kurdistan, it stated: "With the announcement of a ceasefire in the 12-day war between Iran and Israel, the Islamic Republic began a new wave of repression, characterized by arbitrary arrests, prosecutions, and death sentences, particularly in Kurdistan, but also throughout the country."

The statement, a copy of which we received, indicated that the Iranian authorities' security services have created a dangerous environment for political opposition prisoners by bringing fabricated charges against them and prosecuting them, while the "espionage" law is being reviewed by parliament and the judiciary to strengthen legal repression.

The parties reported that the number of detainees has exceeded 1,000, while the pace of executions is escalating. The statement mentioned the execution of Idris Ali, Azad Shojaei, and Rasoul Ahmed, three Kurdish Kulbars, on charges of "collaborating with Israel." Meanwhile, the lives of several other Kurdish prisoners, particularly from Bukan, remain in danger after being sentenced to death three years ago.

The parties and organizations emphasized that the Iranian regime has consistently resorted to internal repression whenever it fails in external crises. They explained that the continued absence of strong domestic and international responses could pave the way for a repetition of the 1988 tragedy, when thousands of political prisoners were executed after the ceasefire with Iraq.

Call for International Action

The statement warned of the growing risks threatening political and civil activists, particularly political prisoners, calling on the international community to take urgent action. The appeal specifically addressed the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Iran, Mai Sato, international human rights centers and organizations, and all free and justice-loving people around the world.

The statement called for "confronting this repressive and inhumane policy by all means, and not allowing the Iranian regime to continue committing crimes against those whose only crime is demanding their political, civil, and human rights."

It also called on Iranian political parties and organizations, as well as Iranian and Kurdish activists abroad, to "raise their voices through events and meetings, in solidarity with political prisoners and in support of a national and Kurdish protest movement capable of breaking the silence and opening a new horizon of democratic struggle within the country."
