The occupation of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries to Afrin on 18 March caused considerable material and human damage. Hundreds of civilians lost their lives, while others lost parts of their bodies, leaving signs of the brutality of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries. And the occupation forced the people of Afrin to get out of their homes to al-Shahba canton

Fatima Mahmoud Koro, a 50-year-old resident of the village of Khirbet Şêra of Şêra district of Afrin canton, mother of five girls and two young men, left her home during the occupation of Afrin.

Fatima lost her right foot and almost paralyzed by a landmine planted by IS mercenaries formerly near her home.

On 20 March 2018, Fatima returned to her home in al-Shahba canton, but before arriving at the house, a landmine was exploded on her, she was taken to Aleppo hospitals for treatment.

"I started to scream for the pain, I knew I had lost my feet, my right arm did not move, the shrapnel was living in different parts of my body, and the feeling of fear and despair overwhelmed me," she said.

Her children, after hearing the sound, came out of the house to find that their mother was out of the ground. Fatima said her children thought she had died.

When the children were confirmed that their mother was still alive, they contacted the Kurdish Red Crescent to relief her. Minutes later the Crescent arrived and transferred Fatima to the hospital in Aleppo for treatment. Fatima said she remained for five days in intensive care and two days under observation.

Comrade Janda Walat embraced Fatima and took care of her

Fatima recounts the events that took place after she left the hospital and said that Janda Walat gave her a helping hand and received her for 3 months, and she continued "the communes took care of me and was taking me to the Martyr Khaled al-Fajr hospital to change the plaster

Fatima pointed out that she had passed difficult days and was suffering from poor health due to the severe injuries, she is now almost paralyzed and bedridden, waiting for long days to heal.

Fatima also said weeks later, her husband managed to reach her. "The commune has secured a home for my family, and now we live with each other,".

Fatima is now receiving physical therapy for her right hand, which is unable to move, and is supposed to undergo surgery after a short period of time.
