Archaeologist: Turkish state will excavate to loot ruins of Prophet Hori site in Afrin

The archaeologist and graduate from the Department of Archeology at Aleppo University, Omar Ibrahim, confirmed that the Turkish occupation state aims to loot the ruins of Afrin through the formation of groups for prospecting.

Ibrahim pointed out that the occupied powers, after occupying any area, are attacking their cultural heritage, he added "The occupied Turkish state destroys Afrin's monuments and digs them, and Tel Ain Dara is a good example of this.

In an important matter, Ibrahim stressed that the Turkish state has established a group to excavate the ruins of the site of Prophet Huri in Şêra district of Afrin canton. The site of the Prophet Hori is one of the most famous sites in Syria, and is classified on the list of UNESCO and includes a Roman amphitheater and the tomb of the Prophet Hori in which the site has been named after him.

Omar Ibrahim also confirmed that the Turkish state conducted archaeological excavations at the railway site in the village of Meydan Ekbesê, in search of treasures.

"We demand the UN Security Council to face to these practices," he said.

A resident of Brad village, where there are famous monuments such as the tomb of Marmaron, the most famous Syrian figure, who became a Qibla for the Christians, said that the Turkish occupation is excavating and looting the ruins of the village in search of ruins.

Afrin is one of the richest areas of ruins in Syria, with contain castles, Roman churches, Zaradasht and Mittania temples, many of the villages of Afrin were named after the towers and castles.
