SDF's Spox: We not to abandon liberation of occupied territories

On the second anniversary of the occupation of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî / Tel Abyad, the official Spokesman of the Syrian Democratic Forces, the SDF explained that the occupied areas have become hotbed for terrorism and will worsen unless the occupiers are held accountable. He made clear that the liberation of those areas is an issue they will not abandon.

The 9th of October marks the second anniversary of the occupation of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî / Tal Abyad regions by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, the so-called "Syrian National Army", who displaced more than 300,000 people from their areas.

With the second anniversary of the occupation closing, our agency met with the SDF's Spokesman Aram Hanna, to talk about the crimes of the occupation and their military forces responsibilies to liberate those areas.

Aram Hanna recalled the second anniversary of the occupation of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî/Tel Abyad, saying: "The second anniversary of the occupation of Sere-Kaniye and Tal Abyad bears a painful memory for the Syrian Democratic Forces, as we had previously liberated those areas from the abomination of ISIS terrorism, and we made many sacrifices in this context.  ".

He added, "Today we suffer from the same terrorist threat in those occupied areas, and terrorist activity is increasing in them. This is what motivates us to continue our resistance to liberate those areas."

The situation is similar in the occupied territories

The Turkish occupation and its mercenaries are repeating all the acts and crimes as those happen in Afrin, inside the occupied cities of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî / Tel Abyad, and through the same mercenaries, but by changing their names as they are on the lists of terrorism.

Hanna says: "The situation in Serekaniye and Tal Abyad is similar to Afrin and the rest of the occupied territories. Today we wonder why Afrin is today free of its Kurds, and Serekaniye is free of its components as Arabs and Christians?"

Hanna believes that the model followed in the occupied areas is based on the displacement of the indigenous population, kidnapping, intimidating thems, and the military clashes in those areas indicate this, "all of which affects the remaining residents of those occupied cities. We recorded in the city of Serêkaniyê cases of property seizure, people's homes were turned into military barracks.

The North and West are environment for the terrorism activity

The Spokesman pointed out: "Certainly, we are facing terrorism as before. Today, the terrorist threat from the north and west, like before, the Turkish occupation helped the terrorist organization in the city of Serêkaniyê in 2012 and later in Kobani as well. ISIS was using the Turkish gates as a crossing for its weapons and treatment of the injured  in Turkish hospitals.

After its military failure to control the region, Turkey uses sleeper cells and ISIS mercenaries, to destabilize the region and incite public opinion against the SDF and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.

Aram Hanna says in this context, "Our forces thwarted many operations of mercenaries' sleeper cells, the latest of which was a major operation in Raqqa, and through their confessions they indicated that they used the occupied areas to pass explosives. We, in turn, confirm that the occupied areas have become a suitable environment for the activity of mercenaries and terrorists without accountability."

Crimes will worsen unless the mercenaries are held accountable and listed on the terrorist list

Regarding the violations and crimes committed by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries in the cities of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî / Tel Abyad, Aram Hanna touched on them, saying: "During this period, we monitored all crimes against the indigenous population, including displacement and taking over civilian property, kidnappings that affected women and children as well, and exposure to tribal elders.  And almost daily crimes, which raises the threat of terrorism once again.”

The US administration had classified the mercenaries of Ahrar al-Sharqiya on the terrorism, but it is still continuing its crimes inside the occupied areas, most notably Serêkaniyê and Afrin.

Hanna says that they see the US administration's move to classify several leaders of the mercenaries of Ahrar al-Sharqiya as positive, but it "does not rise to the level required to hold the mercenaries accountable for their repeated actions, which are exacerbated as long as they are not held accountable, and their crimes are not stopped."

“We have contact with several countries and are working through diplomatic means.”

Regarding the steps taken by the Syrian Democratic Forces over the past two years, Aram Hanna said: "We in the Syrian Democratic Forces have distinguished relations with many international parties to whom we reviewed the details of the violations that occur and the details of the information received from the occupied areas, and through these relations we can achieve  Some diplomacy and politics."

He added, "The efforts of the delegation of the Syrian Democratic Council had great merit in shedding light on the occupied areas, and presenting this issue to the American and Russian administrations. We, the Syrian Democratic Forces, are making a lot of efforts in the context of securing the areas on the contact lines, and intensifying efforts to liberate the occupied areas."

 central issue

Regarding the position of their forces in the liberation of the occupied areas, the SDF spokesperson continued, saying: “We in the Syrian Democratic Forces have the will and management to liberate all our occupied areas from the city of Serêkaniyê all the way to Tal Abyad, Jarabulus, al-Bab, Afrin and all the occupied areas that the Turkish state dared to occupy.  It is our central issue and we will not abandon it, and we pledge to our people in our areas and occupied areas that our keys will not rust and we will return to our cities sooner or later.”

'We do not enslave the presence of a military operation to liberate our occupied areas'

Regarding the possibility of military operations by the Syrian Democratic Forces to liberate the occupied areas, Aram Hanna pointed out that "everything is possible and all possibilities are in place, and we do not rule out conducting any military operation to liberate those areas, and we will create the appropriate diplomatic and political atmosphere to conduct such type of military operations, and we affirm that we will return to  These areas sooner or later.

The spokesperson for the Syrian Democratic Forces, Aram Hanna, concluded his speech by sending a message to the people of northern and eastern Syria in general and the people of the occupied areas in particular, saying: “Our message today is to our people through which we call for continuing to support our forces and all their military formations, as they are the only hope for liberating the occupied areas, and we affirm that we  We will return to those areas thanks to the steadfastness and support of our people."
