Today, the sheikhs and notables of the clans in Manbij and its countryside made a statement to the public opinion, in which they denounced the siege of Makhmour camp by the Iraqi army and surrounding it with barbed wire and watch towers.

The statement was read by the spokesman of the Notables Council in the city of Manbij and its countryside, Sheikh Sadiq Al-Asaidi, in front of the Notables Council of the Manbij city and its countryside.

The statement confirmed, "For several days, the Iraqi army has been imposing a siege on the residents of Makhmour camp located in Nineveh Governorate, that includes tens of thousands of civilians who have been displaced from their lands, and the Iraqi army is digging trenches and placing barbed wire around it to tighten the siege and impose isolation on Its residents, noting that the United Nations has officially recognized it as a refugee camp since 2011."

And added, "We, the sheikhs and notables of Manbij and its countryside, condemn and denounce these inhumane measures taken by the Iraqi army, using huge military mechanisms to impose siege in implementation of foreign agendas."

The statement called on "all international humanitarian and human rights organizations and the United Nations that have previously recognized this camp, to work to lift the siege."
