Palestinian writer calls for start of extended advocacy campaigns to expose condition of Ocalan imprisonment

Rumors went viral about the health of the leader Ocalan, who is imprisoned in Imrali, in harsh conditions, including: Preventing meeting with his lawyer and his family with him.

In an interview with ANHA agency, the Palestinian writer Nasser Shabat stressed the need to start real advocacy campaigns for the leader Ocalan, to know his condition, and to restore momentum to his cause.

Shabat indicated that the leader Ocalan is "a left-wing leader struggles for a just cause for equality for his people, and it is illogical for the world to remain silent about his cause."

Shabat demanded "human rights institutions and committees, and all those seeking justice, to take action to save the leader from the situation imposed on him." Pointing out that "Turkish society and its progressive factions must form a state of internal pressure to support a man who does not search for the spoils of power, but rather seeks equality and justice for his people."

He continued, "Ocalan is a historical issue. The global community, the European community, and the leftists in all of Europe must move to pressure Turkey."

And he stressed, "Rejection of everything that Ocalan is exposed to. Who has passed more than 20 years, in isolation from the world." He continued: "No one has the right to ignore this issue for the sake of human justice."

He pointed out that "the leader's tendencies are borderline, not separate, but the minds that govern Turkey are fascist, prefer to deal with the Kurds in a racist manner." Noting that it is necessary for the human rights and law committees, including the European Committee against Torture, to move to follow up on the leader's condition and disclose it to his family and people.

He stressed that it is also necessary for "the formation of a peaceful state of pressure inside Turkey, represented by popular pressure for the justice of the cause."

He called for "opening advocacy campaigns in the European and global community, with the aim of forming a pressure front that moves the cause of the stagnant leader, by all possible means: realistic and virtual."

Palestinian writer Nasser Shabat said at the conclusion of his speech: “Because the leader Abdullah Ocalan carries the issue of the left and the communists, not the issue of the Kurdish people only, he will be marginalized, but if Ocalan was not a leftist or carrying this just cause, the whole world would move, but they want That Turkish society remains a police community, not governed by the law, which guarantees that lawyers and the leader's family will visit him in prison and check on his condition.
