The conference, held under the slogan "Democratic Society Organizations Guarantee Freedom, Justice, and Equality," began a short while ago at the Sirdem Hall in Hassakeh.

The conference was attended by over 500 individuals as delegates from the councils of the Democratic Society Movement in the cities and regions of North and East Syria, led by the co-chair. Also present were representatives from the Autonomous Administration, the Syrian Democratic Forces, political and feminist parties, and civil society organizations.

The conference opened with a speech delivered by the co-chairs of TEV-DEM, Gharib Hesso and Ruken Ahmed, in both Arabic and Kurdish. They welcomed the attendees and celebrated the convening of the fifth conference.

The opening speech highlighted the history of the Democratic Society Movement, its role in the July 19 Revolution, its contribution to establishing the Democratic Autonomous Administration that has since expanded significantly across Syria, and its leading role in organizing society.

The welcoming speech noted the achievements of the Democratic Society Movement since its inception, attributing these gains to the adherence to the "third line" of Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s leadership, which focuses on women's freedom and the brotherhood of peoples. This approach has become a significant model in the region, thanks to the sacrifices of the martyrs.

The speech also addressed the current and upcoming responsibilities of the Democratic Society Movement and how it needs to adapt its organizational duties to meet the challenges of the present time.

The conference continues with discussions among delegates and members of the Democratic Society Movement on the organizational status, as well as a review of the movement's general report on the activities since the last conference.

According to the preparatory committee, the conference will discuss and amend the internal regulations to align with the updates in the social contract of North and East Syria, vote on the amendments, and elect the council members and co-chairs.
