Sheikhs and notable figures from the Arab and Kurdish tribes of Hasaka issued a joint statement to the public regarding their stance on the attacks by Damascus government forces and the so-called “National Defense” on the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The statement was read in the city of Hasaka in the presence of tribal leaders and notables, by a member of the North and East Syria Notables Body, Sheikh Hassan Farhan, head of the Al-Tay tribe council.

The statement reads:

"Once again, the Syrian regime shifts its focus elsewhere, completely ignoring what is happening in other Syrian regions and the clear and repeated violations of its sovereignty in Damascus and other areas. It starts to create discord and undermine stability in areas that are fully stable, by supporting mercenary groups and overseeing battles in Deir ez-Zor, in coordination with Turkey and other forces to impose chaos and hinder stabilization efforts, especially after its failure over a year ago to break the will of the people of Deir ez-Zor and its social figures and authentic tribes.

We, the sheikhs, elders, and notables of the Jazera Canton, proudly declare our unified stance against all external interventions and discord that the Ba'athist regime and its mercenaries are attempting to create among us."

Our tribes, with their men, women, elders, and youth, stand side by side with the Syrian Democratic Forces and the internal security forces, supporting them with all their strength and resources to maintain the country's security and stability.

Our experiences and the harsh conditions we have endured have shown that our unity and cohesion are the strongest weapons against any attempts to destabilize our security and divide our ranks. We believe that the homeland is more precious than anything, and defending it is a sacred duty for every individual in our proud tribes.

We strongly condemn and reject foreign interventions and discord aimed at undermining the security and stability of our regions, destroying our social fabric, creating discord among citizens of the same nation, and committing repeated massacres against innocent civilians. The latest of these was the recent massacre in

Jadidat Al-Bakkara and Al-Dahla, which resulted in 12 martyrs and 15 wounded, including women, children, and elders.

These actions are a gross violation of human rights and a breach of all human values, principles, ethics, international laws, and norms. These heinous practices amount to war crimes.

All tribes and clans in NE Syria will remain a solid rock upon which all enemy conspiracies will break, and will continue to be a shield protecting the nation against any threats to its security and stability.

We urge all citizens of our beloved homeland to unite and stand behind the Syrian Democratic Forces and internal security forces, putting the country's interests above all else.”
