On Sunday, August 11, the fifth conference of TEV-DEM concluded with several recommendations. The top priority is the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan, strengthening the structure of democratic society organizations, establishing diplomatic relations with regional and international civil society organizations, and electing a new co-chair.

Democratic society is a home for every family and every person

Ramzia Mohammed, who was elected as co-chair at the end of the conference, emphasized the importance of the movement in building the democratic nation system. She said, "Building a democratic society system relies on its organization by the people, and the people of the region adopt this project, allowing all components to play their roles at all levels. The democratic society is a home for every family and every person."

Ramzia Mohammed highlighted that the Democratic Society Movement, which has established itself according to the organization of civil society movements, has been working for many years in North and East Syria. She said, "We have organized ourselves at various levels through unions and syndicates, but what we need is to expand our system to attract those who remain to join the movement. One of the movement's priorities in the future will be to spread the concept and build the democratic society system among the people of the region, so that every group can see itself within the movement and its system."

She explained, "As a movement, we have organized ourselves to serve the community. To serve our people better, we established unions and syndicates, and built an institutional system through which we organized ourselves, similar to how we built the Autonomous Administration. We are working to develop our institutions according to the provisions of the social contract."

Ramzia Mohammed stressed, "To strengthen our work and organize ourselves better, we need to train ourselves and address the specific needs of women, and organize our institutions as a council within the democratic society movement. This will enable us to support our people and confront attacks."

She concluded, "What we ask of our people and our community is to organize themselves according to the democratic nation system, and to rally around their institutions and forces so that we can repel attacks on our areas and protect the gains achieved by our martyrs.”
