Turkish state is model of cultural and physical genocide

The occupying Turkish state follows Turkification in the occupied areas, claims that its occupation is not permanent, but it has annexed Jarablus, Azaz, al-Bab, Afrin, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî since 2016.

The process of demographic change continues in the areas (Jarabulus, Azaz, Al-Bab, Afrin, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî) occupied by the Turkish state and its mercenaries.  On the other hand, the Turkification underway in these areas contrary to what it claims, shows any occupation policy that it implements in those areas.

The institutes of the University of Gaziantep and the imposition of the Turkish lira

In October 2019, the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries in Jarablus, Azaz, Afrin and al-Bab opened institutes affiliated with Gaziantep University.  In 2020, they imposed the exchange in the Turkish lira in these areas.

In Afrin, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî, kidnapping, harassment and rape are daily routine within the framework of the occupation policy.  The Turkish state and its mercenaries also imposed the Turkish language in Jarablus.

The geography of Afrin, since the first day of its occupation, has been exposed to all kinds of inhumane practices, and its demography has changed to the extent that ISIS did not do all of this.

Before the Turkish occupation, the Kurds in the city were about 96-98%, but according to some sources, they are now only 22%, while other sources indicated that they amounts to only 15%.

Mass killings, torture, ransom demands, looting and rape continue uninterrupted in the city, within the framework of the policy of the occupying Turkish state, which is implemented by its intelligence services and mercenaries.  And all this is done in front of the eyes of the Russian and Global Coalition and is committed under the pretext and lies that ‘there are terrorist attacks targeting our borders’.

 Turkification

The most important practices that seek permanent occupation and colonization of the Turkish state are Turkification on the basis of forced assimilation, and the most prominent example of this is the demolition of the previous memory and portfolio and the attempt to build a new Turkish memory.

The Turkish flag and portraits of the President of the Turkish Republic are hung on the doors of many buildings.  During the past months, a school was opened in Jarablus and named after the deputy governor of Gaziantep, Ahmed Turgay Emamcilar, who died a year before the occupation of Jarablus.

And branches of the Turkish Telecom Company opened as if Afrin was a Turkish region, and on November 9, 2018, a branch of the Turkish Postal Corporation was opened.

The Turkish state occupied 242 schools, imposed the Turkish language as the language of instruction in them, and defined school curricula.  Students in these schools study according to the concept of Turkish nationalism, where students recite verses during the morning meeting, before the start of school.  This shows how the Turkish Islamic structure is applied in the occupied territories.

The opening of a preparatory school called 'Pasha Karaja Imam Khateeb Lisisi' in Afrin is another indication of this perception.  The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights explained that the administration of Azaz University, which is affiliated with the so-called Interim Government, opened in the new academic year departments such as the Institute of Media and the Turkish Language.  According to international laws and the United Nations treaty, the Turkish state is not entitled to take any decisions in these areas;  Because the mentioned areas are occupied areas.

The Turkish occupation includes the occupied territories to its lands

The same crimes that are being committed in the Afrin-Jarabulus line, are committed in Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî, which were occupied in 2019.

They settled the families of mercenaries from different Syrian cities in the region. They follow a policy of extermination by settling the families of mercenaries from all over the world in this region.

The Turkish state is legitimizing its occupation day after day, seeking to separate these areas from Syria.

 Ongoing crimes

Since the first day of the occupation, the Turkish state has committed all kinds of crimes in the region from looting, kidnapping, assault, rape, torture and murder.

It also made the Kurdish National Council act as an ally in these crimes, and this is the most prominent example of Machiavellian politics.  For example, the propaganda that it has been promoting in recent months to return to Afrin started through the Kurdish National Council.

The people of Afrin who were forcibly displaced to Aleppo and al-Shahba as a result of the occupation are encouraged to return to Afrin, which is still under occupation, through the Kurdish National Council’s promotional propaganda.  With the same invitation and encouragement, it aims to implement the same policy in Girê Spí and Serêkaniyê.  However, the people of those areas point out that their return can only be by ending the occupation.

 Turning schools into torture centers

The Turkish occupation and its mercenaries have turned schools into military bases and torture centers, such as a prison in Azaz, which is one of the largest prisons in the region, where many people who were kidnapped were subjected to various types of torture there.

The Turkish occupation and its mercenaries also restore the mentality of ISIS in the areas under its occupation.  The mercenaries force women to wear the veil, and they force shopkeepers to close their shops during prayer times.  In the demonstrations, ISIS flags are raised.  The mercenaries also protested against the French government and burned the French flag, and a march began in which the ISIS flag was raised in early 2021.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented the humanitarian crisis and the crimes committed in the Syrian areas occupied by Turkey, and explained in a report, "After the Turkish state occupied areas of Syria, the humanitarian and security problems and crimes increased in these occupied areas, as not a day passes without crimes and explosions."

Turkish state statements say that it supports Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity, but its series of practices shows that this is not the case at all.

According to Turkish media news, the occupying Turkish state aspires to annex northern and eastern Syria to Turkey, and aims to occupy most of the border areas with a length of 910 km.  It was also announced that the goal of the Turkish occupation was to launch a new occupation attack at a distance of 600 km.  In this context, the occupier continues to implement the policy of Turkification in these areas, in addition to continuing threats to the continuation of its operations in demographic change.

Since the beginning of October, there has been a threat to launch an extensive occupation attack on northern and eastern Syria, especially Tal Rifaat, Manbij and Kobani.  The truth is that Erdogan aims to create chaos in the region, eliminate the achievements of the Rojava revolution and the project of the democratic nation, obstruct political efforts seeking to achieve official recognition of self-administration, and deprive the peoples of the region, especially the Kurds, of a free future.

Despite the threats of the occupying Turkish state to launch attacks and crimes against humanity, and all the appeals of international human rights organizations against the Turkification of these areas, the truth is that no action has been taken to prosecute the Turkish state for war crimes, and this is a fundamental issue that needs careful analysis.
