Dozens of residents of the Jobar neighborhood in Damascus blocked the Ring Road on Friday in protest against delays in the neighborhood’s reconstruction and to reject the regulatory plan, which they described as “unjust.”

The protest coincided with calls by the Jobar Neighborhood Coordination Committee urging the Damascus Governorate to clarify the status of the reconstruction file, disclose details of proposed investment projects, and establish a clear implementation timeline that guarantees residents’ rights and their right to return to their homes.

The committee had previously stressed that the neighborhood must not be reduced to an investment project, emphasizing that reconstruction must safeguard the rights of homeowners and landowners and must not undermine their property rights or impose additional burdens on them.
