In conjunction with the violations of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries against civilians from Afrin, humanitarian organizations continue to document the crimes of the occupation.

  The documents of the human rights organization in Afrin canton, which are based on reliable sources, and living testimonies indicate that more than 5,000 people from Afrin canton have been kidnapped since the Turkish occupation of the canton in March 2018, including 2,000 civilians whose fate is still unknown. The abductees pay a ransom amounted to millions of lira.

Kidnapping on a daily basis in Afrin

According to human rights organization in Afrin, more than 300 civilians were kidnapped by mercenaries of the Turkish occupation in 20 days in July, and the organization has documented many of these cases by names and dates.

On July 10, the mercenaries kidnapped the young Niroz Mahmood, 22 years-old, Roshin Manla Othman and Mazin Mahmoud, from the village of Qurezila in the Shirawa district.

On July 15, the Turkish occupation kidnapped three residents of the village of Iska, Mohammed Jamal Khalo, Omar Juma Nazo and Ammar Mohammed Nazo. They were taken to an unknown destination and their fate is still unknown.

On July 17, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries kidnapped Joan Walid Horo, Hanif Fahmi Aref and Mustafa Ibrahim Khalil from the village of Dikmdash in the Shara district. On the same date, the young woman Sozan Hekmet was kidnapped by residents of the village of Gelber in the area of ​​Shirawa.

On 17 July the mercenaries of al-Jabha al-Shamiya, loyal to the Turkish occupation, kidnapped Mustafa Khalil, 50 years-old, an imam and preacher of the mosque of the village and his son Mohammed Khalil Ben Mustafa, 24 years old, and Ahmed Bashir Khalil was abducted from the same village.

On July 18, the faction of Feleq al-SHam of the Turkish occupation kidnapped three citizens from the village of Shadira in the area of ​​Shirawa. They were known as Nuri Jammu Ashraf, 60 years old, who was kidnapped instead of his brother from his house to escape the ransom imposed on him by the faction who controls his village.

On July 18, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries abducted Yusuf Hanif, Salman Fahmi, Hanif Fahmi Karim, Ali Jumaa, Abdul Hamid Hamza, Riad Ali Jumaa and Ahmed Aref from the village of Dikmdash.

On 18 July, the mercenaries of the Turkish occupation raided a number of houses between the roundabout of Marata and the Western Autostrad in the city of Afrin late at night. They kidnapped Yusuf Faisal and his wife and took them to an unknown destination and their fate is still unknown.

On July 19, the Turkish occupation army and mercenaries carried out a large-scale raid in the village of Kehra in the area of Mobata, and 11 citizens were kidnapped, including Rifai Esau, Iso Najib and Mustapha Hanan Ibn Muhammad Qasim Ibn Muhammad Qasim. According to the source, the abductees were taken to a prison in the Shih district, which is controlled by the Amshat Faction, and then transferred to a prison in the city of Afrin.

Ibrahim Shikho, a spokesman for the Human Rights Organization in Afrin Canton, said that the abductees were subjected to various forms of physical and psychological torture, in addition to a financial ransom in exchange for their release.

Theft of antiquities, conversion of historical sites to military headquarters

This month, the organization also documented a number of violations of archaeological sites in Afrin, including exploration, theft and sabotage.

On 15 July, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries excavated Tall Jandres (Jandres' Hill) by heavy machinery, stole all the antiquities and turned the hill into a military headquarters.

On July 16, the Turkish occupation army carried out excavations on the hill of the village of Sindianki, of Jandres, and stole all the remains in it and transferred them to Turkey.

On 16 July, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries built a military base in the village of Darwish in the area of ​​Rajo in Afrin.

Burning the trees, forest and crops

The Human Rights Organization in Afrin Canton also confirmed the deliberate burning of trees and agricultural crops. On July 5, the Turkish occupation army burned more than 200 trees in the vicinity of Afrin and over 300 hectares of agricultural land in the Shirawa district, planted with wheat and barley on 17 July.

The spokesman for the Human Rights Organization in Afrin Canton, Ibrahim Shikho, called on the concerned international bodies to move to reduce the violations of the Turkish occupation and mercenaries against civilians. He also called for the prosecution of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries in the international criminal court for the crimes committed in Afrin.
