Footage of Turkish helicopter shootdown
Gerîla TV channel has released footage showing the downing of a Turkish Sikorsky helicopter in Bahar Hill, in the Medya Defense areas.
On July 10, fighters of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) shot down a Turkish Sikorsky helicopter in Bahar Hill in the Medya Defense areas.
The HPG issued a statement about the incident, saying: "On July 10 at 23:40, our forces targeted a Sikorsky helicopter, which was attempting to deploy soldiers in the resistance area of Bahar Hill, using sniping tactics. The helicopter, which was struck hard, crashed. The crash site was then bombed by attack helicopters."
The footage released by Gerîla TV shows how the helicopter was shot down and caught fire.
The news of the Turkish helicopter shootdown was widely shared on social media and covered extensively by regional and Middle Eastern media outlets.
The Turkish occupation state is conducting fierce attacks against S. Kurdistan, with the complicity of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) authorities and the silence of the Iraqi federal government. The Turkish forces have occupied more than 70% of Dohuk province in S. Kurdistan.
