The KDP authorities have detained Suleiman Ahmed for the 262nd day, after the Dohuk court in S. Kurdistan postponed his case hearing to July 29.

Suleiman Ahmed was abducted by KDP forces at the Fish Khabur crossing on October 25, 2023, while returning to S. Kurdistan after visiting his family in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo on October 1.

A week after his abduction, KDP forces issued a contradictory statement claiming his abduction was “not related to his journalistic work,” acknowledging the abduction and publicly threatening to punish him.

After more than 8 months of abduction, Suleiman’s lawyers were finally able to meet him in May, under pressure from journalists, press unions, and local and international organizations, at the Asayish prison in Dohuk.
