A number of female journalists who were apprenticed and trained by martyr Gulistan Tara and continued to struggle in her path in the field of free media, spoke to our reporters about their feelings and experience with martyr Gulistan.

JIN TV correspondent, Lorestan Darwish, started working in 2019 and met martyr Gulistan since the beginning of her work, and learned journalism from her.

"Thanks to her, we learned the meaning of life and the truth about women"

Lorestan Darwish noted that Martyr Gulistan was so kind, and she instilled in us the love of life and the love of struggle through her intellectual and professional training, adding: "She helped me get to know the character of women, their goals and their truth."

"She was determined to achieve her goals," with this phrase, Lorestan Darwish referred to Martyr Gulistan's determination to achieve victory, and continued, saying: "And she conveyed this to her students, she communicated sincerely with everyone around her. I continue my work on this basis. We will work to embody her good qualities. We will convey to future generations the spirit that she taught us."

"She was a pillar of women's media"

Zozan Ramadan, an administrator at the JIN TV office in the Euphrates canton, met and worked with martyr Gulistan Tara in 2018.

Zozan Ramadan says that martyr Gulistan was a great friend and teacher for them, and continued by saying: "She was a pillar of women's media. She made great efforts for us so that we could reach this level. She had a great role, so words fail to express the greatness of her efforts."

"We will continue to struggle on her path"

Zozan Ramadan added that the martyr Gulistan used to help them whenever they faced difficulties at work, and that they continue to struggle now with this morale, and she ended her speech by saying: "We draw all our energy from the pioneers of free media, now we feel more responsible, we will continue to reveal the truth of the occupation to public opinion. We pledge to remain on the path of the martyr Gulistan through our writings, our voice, and our vision of the truth."

Gulistan Tara

Journalist Gulistan Tara was born on January 24, 1983 in the city of Eleh in Northern Kurdistan to a patriotic family that suffered greatly from the brutality and injustice of the occupation. In 1999, she began the struggle for the freedom of her people at the age of 16. She continued working in the field of free media since 2000.

She waged a pioneering struggle in many areas in Rojava and Bakur Kurdistan, on the path of free media and revealing the truth, following up on the situation of women, and revealing the truth about the occupiers of Kurdistan.

Recently, she continued her struggle on the path of free media in Southern Kurdistan. On August 23, 2024, while she was on her way with a group of journalists to finish a journalistic assignment, the car carrying them was targeted by a Turkish occupation drone, resulting in the martyrdom of Gulistan Tara and Hîro Baha al-Din.
