Leader's lawyers submit new request to visit Imrali

Lawyers from the Al-Asr Human Rights Office have submitted a new request to the Turkish authorities to meet with their clients in Imrali prison.

Lawyers Raziye Ozturk, Rizan Sariça, Fayek Ozgur Arul, and Mazlum Dinç filed the request today with the Bursa Public Prosecutor's Office and the Imrali Prison Directorate to meet with their client, leader Abdullah Ocalan, and the three other detainees, Omar Khairi Kunar, Hamili Yildirim, and Veysi Aktaş.

There has been no information about leader Ocalan for 42 months.

The last meeting with leader Ocalan by his lawyers, Rizan Sariça and Newroz Oysal, was on August 7, 2019. The last contact with the outside world was on March 25, 2021, during a 5-minute phone call with his brother, Mohammed Ocalan, after which the connection was cut.

Leader Abdullah Ocalan has been held in Imrali Island Prison in the Sea of Marmara for over 24 years, following an international conspiracy executed by international and regional forces in Nairobi, Kenya, in 1999. He was handed over to the Turkish occupation state on February 15 of the same year.
