The Duhok Court in S. Kurdistan has postponed the case of journalist Ahmad Suleiman, who has been detained by the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) authorities for 276 days, to July 29, after the trial session was initially scheduled for June 30.

Suleiman Ahmad was abducted by KDP forces at the Fish Khabur border crossing on October 25, 2023, while returning to S. Kurdistan after visiting his family in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo on October 1.

His lawyers were only able to meet him for the first time after 211 days of his abduction, which is considered a violation of the laws of S. Kurdistan and Iraq. According to Article 123, Number 23, amended of the 1971 Criminal Procedure Law, detainees are entitled to meet their lawyers within 24 hours.
