Iraqi Migration Ministry announces 805 displaced return to Şengal

The Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Displacement has announced the return of 805 displaced persons from the Sharya camp in Duhok to Şengal District.

Roj News reported that 805 displaced persons have returned from the Sharya camp in Duhok to Şengal District in S. Kurdistan, according to a statement from the Ministry of Migration and Displacement, a copy of which was received by the agency.

The statement said, "805 displaced persons have voluntarily returned from the Sharya camp in Duhok Province to their original areas of residence in Şengal District, Nineveh Province."

The statement also noted that "the returnees will receive return grants, relief assistance, and durable goods, following the directives of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani to resolve the displacement issue and close the camps."

It clarified that "the process of relocating the families was carried out in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and in coordination with security forces and local administrations in Duhok and Nineveh provinces.”
