The Turkish occupation state continues to impose strict isolation on leader Abdullah Ocalan, and prevents his family and lawyers from meeting him. Human rights activists in Tabqa confirmed that the isolation imposed on the leader is illegal and Turkey must stop this policy.

The jurst, Shadi Al-Ibrahim pointed out that Imrali prison is against the legal system because it was built in violation of local constitutional rules in Turkey.

Shadi Al-Ibrahim confirmed that all decisions issued by Imrali are invalid because the system is against  the constitutions and local regulations in Turkey, and this was confirmed by the European Court in its recent decision about Imrali prison.

Al-Ibrahim referred to the 2022 report of the Committee Against Torture, that Imrali Prison is a unique prison in the world in terms of the isolation imposed on prisoners, and location.

Al-Ibrahim explained that Turkey added articles specific to the leader Abdullah Ocalan to the Turkish Penal Code to tighten his isolation and prevent him from communicating with his lawyers, relatives and the outside world.

The lawyer Ahmed Shaaban Al-Ahmad condemned the Turkish practices against the leader and confirmed that Turkey is turning Imrali into a modern military zone to prevent lawyers from visiting the leader Abdullah Ocalan.

Lawyer Abdul Hamid Al-Khamri pointed out that international lawyers submitted approximately 110 requests to the Public Prosecutor in Bursa to allow them to meet their client, but all of them were rejected.

Al-Khamri stressed that Turkey is trying to make these violations a bargaining chip.

Al-Khamri called on international and regional bodies, Amnesty International, and the European Court of Human Rights to reveal the fate of political prisoners, including the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and to apply the Hope Law to release him.
