Warisha Moradi tortured in Evin Prison

Warisha Moradi, member of the Free Women's Organization of East Kurdistan, was subjected to violence and beating by Iranian authorities in Evin Prison due to her protest against the execution of Kurdish youth Rida Rasayi.

On August 7, Evin Prison in Tehran witnessed a protest by political detainees against the execution of Rida Rasayi on August 6. 

During the protest, the detainees broke down the office door of the wing guards, leading to a crackdown by security guards and clashes between the detainees and guards.

The Iranian police attacked Warisha Moradi, torturing her brutally, resulting in multiple injuries, according to the Women's News Agency. The agency also reported that Iranian authorities denied Moradi medical treatment and that an officer named Hadi Mohammadi ordered her torture in prison.

According to information obtained by the agency from the prison, Iranian authorities have prevented Warisha Moradi from receiving medical treatment and it has been reported that an officer named Hadi Mohammadi ordered her torture in the prison.

Iranian authorities continue their repressive practices against political detainees, especially Kurds, including Zeynab Jalalian, who has been imprisoned since 2008, Sharifa Mohammadi, who was arrested on December 5, 2023, and Bakhshan Azizi, who was arrested on August 4 of the same year. Both Sharifa and Bakhshan face death sentences.
