Deir ez-Zor Council: 25 killed, 10 wounded of Damascus forces, its affiliated NDF

The Council revealed the outcome of the attacks of the Damascus government forces and the so-called "National Defense" on the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor Canton.

The statement read:

" Thursday morning, after the heavy artillery and mortar shelling, Syrian regime militants and the so-called "National Defense" launched a ground attack and infiltration operations into areas on the banks of the Euphrates River, east of Deir ez-Zor.

 As a result of the indiscriminate and barbaric shelling by regime forces on areas populated by civilians, two civilians were martyred and five others were injured in each of "Dhiban and Al-Lattwa neighborhood", and other civilians were injured in the city of "Al-Shuhail" following the brutal shelling."

Immediately, the Deir ez-Zor and Hajin Military Council forces intervened and violent clashes erupted with the mercenaries and the attacking groups around the villages of Lattwa, Dhiban, Darnaj, Gharanij and Al-Tayana, which they had infiltrated, their numbers were estimated at more than 400 militants. The death toll of the mercenaries during our forces' confrontation operations on the first day included the killing of 25 regime militants, including leaders, and the wounding of 10 others. After that, our forces began combing in the areas.

During the operations, two fighters from our forces were martyred and ten others were slightly injured. The people of the region, with all its tribal and clan components, participated in the resistance operations and repelled the attacks. The people and sons of the region’s clans cooperated with our forces, and all the clans and tribes of the region expressed their rejection of the attacks that aim to turn their regions into an arena for fighting.

 Worth to note that the regime forces and its militias directly targeted civilian homes, and there are footage documenting the targeting of homes by these elements.
