People 's municipality in al-Karama provids service , put  plans to find better life

AL-RAQQA -People 's municipality has been established in al-Karama on 5 octobor 2017 and is affiliated to al-Raqqa Civil Council , consisting of 48 staff and it is working to provide service to the people including of many offices  "Control and Supply, Technical Committee, Services , Diwan, Finance and Water Commission, Electricity".

In the municipality has two municipalities are affiliated in the eastern countryside of al-Raqqa, al-Hamarat and al-Hoss, in order to provide services to the people in that area.

The municipality suffers from a lack of available resources. However, it began to rehabilitate several service centers that were vandalized by IS gangs during their occupation of the area and established teams to repair water pumps and electricity supply networks.

Khalid al-Khamri, the vice head of the co –chair of the municipality, pointed out that "as a result of the need to provide services to the people ,municipality was opened by al-Raqqa Civil council in al-Karama area .

Al-Khamri also said that since its establishment, the municipal committees have carried out many projects and  that would improve the level of services in the area and provide a good life for the people.

The work carried out by the municipal committees and offices during the 5 months of its establishment:

Office services

The office began to remove the dirt barriers set up by IS gangs , to remove rubble as a result of the battles that had taken place, to clean the civil entrance and to remove the random dumps.

Office of Control and Supply

The officer, who is currently composed of 30 members, went to inspect the shops and bakeries . The expired materials are checked and destroyed outside the area and the owner of the shop is given a warning and if it is repeated, the shop is stamped and fined financially. To date, 38 shops have been violated and 10 bakaries  have been violated. The technical office participated in issuing warnings to violators in the building and providing warnings to those who illegally smuggled water.

83building permits in al-Karama area and its countryside. It also granted 50 industrial licenses between building materials factories and car washrooms. The office also supervised the rehabilitation of the al-Hoss bridge.

Water and Electricity Committees

Before opening of the municipality, the Water Committee fully equipped the water pumps. The water was pumped in al-Mashlaab neighborhood in al-Raqqq  arriving to al-Baw -Rashed area in the east for more than 70 km.

After the municipality received the necessary electrical equipment, it started forming a team of 5 members to repair the damaged networks. The service line that feeds the water pumping stations and some other service centers was repaired.

While the People's municipality received from the Municipalities and Environment Bodies in al-Jazeera canton and as a kind of support and assistance several mechanisms for the progress of work.

Future projects planned by the municipality include the installation of a garage for public transport, the organization of the transport mechanism, the rehabilitation of the postal telephone center, the paving of damaged roads and the maintenance of sewerage in the area, as well as the planting of trees in the area and the parks in the area
