The Syrian Democratic Council issued a statement, published on its official website, about the attack on a training academy for the Syrian Democratic Forces carried out by Iranian-backed militias, originating from areas under the control of the Damascus government.

A statement by the Syrian Democratic Council, which said: Once again, the hands of treachery are reaching our people in Deir ez-Zor with the aim of intimidating, striking security and stability, and obstructing any political movement that would restore calm to this region, as a military academy affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces was subjected to a blatant attack, in the Al-Omar Field, east of Deir ez-Zor, which resulted in the martyrdom of six fighters and the wounding of many fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces, via a drone. Investigations indicate that its origin is in areas controlled by the authority.”

The statement extended its condolences to the families of the martyrs, and continued: “The Syrian Democratic Council condemns in the strongest terms this cowardly act, and confirms that the source of this attack is the same one that incited and sparked strife in September of 2023, and almost took Deir ez-Zor and its people to extremely dangerous slides had it not been for eliminating that strife with efforts of the wise people of Deir ez-Zor."

The statement called on the people of Deir ez-Zor to show the utmost caution towards projects that aim to implicate Deir ez-Zor in agendas planned by the enemies of freedom and democracy, and added: “The Syrian Democratic Council calls on the people of Deir ez-Zor to show the utmost caution towards projects that aim to implicate Deir ez-Zor in agendas planned by the enemies of freedom and the values of democracy. The Council also stresses the importance of the people of Deir-ez-Zor assuming their national responsibilities and not tolerating attempts to turn their regions into corridors for these plans. Likewise, Deir-ez-Zor’s steadfastness in the face of this plan and its passing of this crisis will make it a corridor and channel for the democratic project towards the rest of the world and regions exhausted by tyranny and corruption."
