Residents of the village of Sarklek in the Koya district of Hawler in S. Kurdistan closed the main road to transport trucks today to protest the lack of basic services in their village, the poor condition of roads and infrastructure, and the deteriorating electricity service, which has made their daily lives unbearable.

Roj News Agency reported that village residents said their lives had become unstable due to these problems and that they could no longer bear them.

As a result, the village residents decided to set up tents on the main road and stage a sit-in there until the concerned authorities respond to their demands and solve their problems.

This step comes as part of escalating their protests to express their dissatisfaction with the current situation and to demand the improvement of basic services in their area.
