Rayhan Lauqu, the spokesperson for the Kongra Star , spoke to ANHA agency about the current stage Syria is going through, the massacres committed against civilians on the coast, and the agreement reached between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Damascus Authority.

Rayhan Lauqu pointed out their ongoing struggle for the past 12 years against the Baathist regime's nationalist and sexually discriminatory mentality, which ignored women's rights and the rights of other components. She also noted that the Syrian people have always sought to achieve democracy, justice, equality, and peace.

She confirmed that the start of the women's revolution in NE Syria opened up opportunities for all women to actively and determinedly participate in various aspects of life in order to build a free and equal life and achieve the freedom of the people.

"The massacres in the coast present a very dangerous scene"

Rayhan Lauqu commented on the massacres targeting civilians in the coast, noting that Syria is going through a sensitive phase. She said: "We had hoped that in this phase, we would achieve peace, democracy, equality, and justice, but today we are facing a much more dangerous scene. Since February 6, women, children, youth, and civilian families in villages and cities with a majority of Alawites have been subjected to horrific massacres. All forms of violence have been used, and hundreds of women have been kidnapped. We mourn with them, and we affirm that their pain is the pain of all women and components in Syria."

She added: "Women in Syria, the Middle East, and the world are being targeted in many ways, as some are trying to implement a plan for the extermination of women, but we will not remain silent, and we will continue to struggle."

"The agreement is important, but it should have guaranteed women's rights"

Rayhan Lauqu explained that the March 10 agreement between the commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, and the head of the Damascus Authority, Ahmad al-Shara, is an important step and a great pride for the Syrian people. She said: "The agreement is an important step for the return of the displaced and the protection of lands and achievements in Syria. It also represents a door for dialogue and defines the path to a solution. However, the main issue remains women's freedom. Women, their identity, achievements, existence, and culture are the most targeted in Syria. Therefore, a clause ensuring women's rights should have been included in the agreement."

Rayhan Lauqu confirmed that they continue their struggle against all mentalities that ignore women's rights, issues, and existence, adding: "It is not enough for women's rights, achievements, and issues to be included in the Syrian constitution alone. They must be recognized as a fundamental right and issue. As Leader Abdullah Ocalan says in his message to women: 'The women's issue is deeper than the issue of the Kurdish people,' so women's existence is essential for building a democratic state. Without women's freedom, that country will not be just, and society will remain crippled."

At the end of her speech, Rayhan Lauqu, the spokesperson for the Kongra Star, called on women across Syria to strengthen their struggle through unity and solidarity in the 21st century.
