Roken Jamal, spokesperson for the YPJ Media Center, said negotiations with the transitional government are still ongoing under the January 29, 2026 agreement, noting that the YPJ has not yet been officially informed of any proposal or decision regarding its future.

According to a statement published on the YPJ's official website on Tuesday, a YPJ delegation met with Transitional Government Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra in April and presented a written draft outlining the units' vision and proposals.

Jamal added that proposals are being considered to integrate the YPJ as an independent counterterrorism force within the Syrian Interior Ministry, but no clear decision has yet been reached on the matter.

She also said that new meetings are expected to take place in the coming days between YPJ representatives and officials in Damascus to continue discussions on the issue.

Jamal stressed that the YPJ will continue its struggle until a legal framework is established to safeguard its legacy and status.
