Journalist Suleiman Ahmed's lawyer previously revealed to ANHA agency that the Dohuk Asayish prevented his lawyer from meeting with him, and that his file is with the party's intelligence service.

Journalist Suleiman Ahmed's lawyer, Nariman Ahmed Rashid, confirmed that the charges against him are false and baseless. Because Suleiman officially entered Rojava and officially returned from there, and has official residency in southern Kurdistan, and he had no legal problems to be kidnapped.

Journalist Suleiman’s lawyer revealed: “The Asayish visited Dohuk several times, but they did not allow us to meet with him.”

In an interview with ANHA agency, the mother of journalist Suleiman Ahmed, Sultana Ahmed, appealed to the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria to intervene, as he is a citizen of the region.

She noted that the kidnappers, members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, have been preventing her from communicating with her son for more than two months.

Sultana Ahmed confirmed that her son had been carrying out his journalistic duties and work for more than 5 years in the city of Sulaymaniyah in southern Kurdistan, and that his arrest by the Kurdistan Democratic Party was unjustified, and demanded his immediate release.

What actions does Roj News intend to take?

In a written statement from Roj News Agency in response to our agency’s questions, the agency confirmed that it will continue working on Suleiman Ahmed’s file to release him, by using the Iraqi constitution and following the laws in southern Kurdistan, despite the authority’s evasion and non-recognition of the laws that it itself concluded to include articles Within the book of the Constitution and the Law.

It confirmed that it is working to "prepare a complete file regarding the actions of the Kurdistan Democratic Party towards the press and journalists and violations of the laws and the constitution, in addition to placing the case of Suleiman Ahmed at the forefront of the file."

 Suleiman was visiting his family

Journalist Suleiman, who works as an editor in the Arabic section at Roj News Agency, had gone to visit his family in the city of Aleppo on October 1, after the death of his father, Muhammad Ahmed.

During his return from Syria at the Fish Khabur crossing, he was kidnapped by the Kurdistan Democratic Party authorities, and contact with him was completely lost 107 days ago.
