The Media Committee of the Martyrs Families Council in Jazera Canton made a statement condemning the death sentences issued by Iranian courts against journalist and activist Bakhshan Azizi and activist Sharifa Mohammadi, and announced its joining the "No to Execution" campaign launched by the Women's Media Union on Monday (12 August).

The statement was read in front of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) building in Qamishlo in Kurdish and Arabic, by council members Evin Haji and Aqlima Mohamed.

"The policy of executions in Iran has become almost daily against Kurdish women activists," the statement said, noting that women in E. Kurdistan are showing unique examples of heroism against this policy, saying: "In recent years there is a popular movement that is revolting against injustice and oppression."

Pointed out that in Iran many women activists were sentenced to death, including Bakhshan Azizi and Sharifa Mohammadi, but the struggle against these decisions is also increasing, adding: "Today, women activists in E. Kurdistan have become an example and symbol of resistance for all women in the Middle East who stand against oppression and attacks."

The statement condemned the Iran's policies of killing, detention and execution, saying: "Women will not retreat from their principles, and the banner of Gina Amini, Bakhshan Azizi and Sharifa Mohammadi will be raised and shown to the whole world. And that women's resistance will not stop here."

At the end of the statement, it called on human rights organizations to take a stand against the policy of violent Iran. and also called on the people of Kurdistan to take a stand against genocidal attacks.
