Deir ez-Zor dignitaries call to confront foreign agendas, massacre perpetrators

Popular, tribal, and clan responses in North and East Syria, particularly in Deir ez-Zor, continue to condemn the attacks carried out by Damascus government forces and the "National Defense" from August 7 to 12, which resulted in the martyrdom of 15 civilians and injuries to 24 others

Ibrahim Hwaish al-Sultan, notable from the town of Gharanij, condemned these attacks, stating, "Our areas and their inhabitants were targeted, resulting in the martyrdom of several children and innocent civilians."

He affirmed, "We support and stand by our forces, the Syrian Democratic Forces, wholeheartedly to repel any attack threatening our security and stability."

He also called on international human rights organizations to intervene to stop these so-called "random" attacks on innocent civilians and hold the perpetrators accountable.

 In turn, Nasser Osman al-Sebaat, elder from the town of Abu Hamam, questioned, "What crime did the Syrians commit to have their blood shed in this manner, with their homes destroyed by National Defense mercenaries and regime forces? Hospitals are filled with wounded children, women, and men, and more than 30 homes have been demolished."

He emphasized, "We, the dignitaries of the region, firmly reject these attacks and any threat to the security and stability of our areas. What happened from the regime and its allies was part of this context. We want security and peace, which is provided by the Syrian Democratic Forces. We, the Deir ez-Zor tribes, do not want wars but are ready to face any threat to our security and stability, whether it comes from Turkey or the Ba'ath regime and its mercenaries."

Nuri al-Tarak al-Noman, notable from the Shaitat tribe, stated that the goal of these attacks is to destabilize the region and undermine the safety and security of its citizens.

He asserted, "We reject all who destroy the region and kill women and children, as done by the National Defense mercenaries and the regime. We stand with the Syrian Democratic Forces and all Syrians in condemning those who attack our areas and demand their accountability."

Thabet Hamad al-Aid, another notable from the Shaitat tribe, called on all honorable Syrians from Quneitra to Kobani to unite and not be caught up in foreign agendas intervening in our internal affairs. He said, "We are a people seeking stability, peace, and security. We are against wars and problems that hinder Syria's reconstruction. Foreign agendas aim to destroy Syria, not build it."

He concluded, "We support the Syrian-Syrian solution and dialogue, reject destabilizing the region, and aim to rebuild and stabilize Syria with the Syrian Democratic Forces. We do not recognize or support anyone involved in destabilizing the region from any side and will hold them accountable.”
