As part of the campaign "Freedom of Abdullah Ocalan, the political solution to the Kurdish issue," launched on October 10, last year, the Syrian initiative for the freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan began on May 14, which is currently visiting political parties in North and East Syria.

The Spokesman for the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, Farzanda Munthar, and members of the Initiative, Abdullah Arabo and Naha Omar, concluded their visit to the two Kurdish Progressive Democratic Party wings in Syria after their visit to 33 Kurdish, Arab, Syriac and Assyrian parties.

During the visit, the spokesperson for the initiative, Farzanda Munther, referred to the strong and continuous struggle campaign in the context of the “Freedom for Abdullah Ocalan, the political solution to the Kurdish issue” campaign, and stated that the campaign embarrasses the Turkish state, and must be strengthened further by supporting political parties in North and East Syria.

The members of the initiative were received by two members of the political bureau of the Kurdish Progressive Democratic Party in Syria, Ceylan Ozkan and Medya Hako, and Ceylan Ozkan stated that they consider the leader Abdullah Ocalan a symbol of freedom.

Ceylan Ozkan pointed out that the issue of arresting Leader Abdullah Ocalan goes beyond the Turkish state, and pointed to the role of international powers in isolation. She continued her speech by saying: “The Turkish state and its allies do not want to release Leader "APO" and solve the Kurdish issue, and we know that Kurdistan will not be liberated until the north is liberated.” Kurdistan, so the freedom of Leader "APO" is not in the interest of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party PKK alone, but rather in the interest of all Kurds. We hope that Kurdistan will be liberated and democracy will be achieved in Turkey under the leadership of Leader "APO" and the Kurdistan Liberation Movement, and we in the Kurdish Progressive Democratic Party in Syria will do everything necessary for this campaign.”

A member of the political bureau of the Kurdish Progressive Democratic Party in Syria, Medya Hako, explained that they demand the freedom of all political detainees in the person of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, and support all efforts aimed at that.

The members of the initiative continued their tour by visiting the other wing of the Kurdish Progressive Democratic Party in Syria, and were received by the party's secretary, Ahmed Barakat, and members of the party's political bureau, Fares Othman and Omar Jaafar.

Secretary of the Kurdish Progressive Democratic Party in Syria, Ahmed Barakat, stated that their position on the Kurdish issue is clear, and he pointed to Turkey’s constant talk about democracy in front of public opinion, and its failure to implement it with regard to the Kurdish issue. During his speech, Barakat reminded of the Kobani issue and continued his speech, saying: “The Turkish state revealed its true face again in the Kobani Case.

A member of the party's political bureau, Fares Othman, highlighted the struggle of Leader Abdullah Ocalan that has been going on for 50 years, and stated that Leader "APO" has been arrested for 25 years for the sake of freedom of societies and not for personal reasons. He continued his speech by saying: “Recently, through the Kobani Case, the state put... Turkey itself is in a bad position before the world regarding democracy, and as a party we will do whatever it takes to make the campaign a success.”

The initiative delegation presented the two parties with a collection of 9 books and the arguments of leader Abdullah Ocalan to the party members.

The members of the initiative revealed that, according to the program they developed, they will visit the Arab, Assyrian, Syriac, and Armenian tribes in the future.
