At least 8 women were killed in the past 24 hours across 6 different cities in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan, according to JINNEWS agency. 

The continuing violence against women is attributed to the policies of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).

JINNEWS based its report on incidents covered by the press. Last night, a woman was shot dead by her husband in Konak, Izmir. The police arrested the suspect at a bus station in Denizli.

On the same night, a man stabbed his wife, who was in the process of divorcing. She died after being transported to the hospital, and the perpetrator is still at large.

In Seyhan, Adana, a 23-year-old man shot and killed his 19-year-old wife, who was also in the process of divorcing, in front of her family’s home. He then killed her brother and parents with a firearm before fleeing.

In Gonen, Balikesir, a 62-year-old man shot his wife and then attempted to take his own life with the same firearm. He is now critically injured and receiving treatment in a hospital.

In Amed, Northern Kurdistan, a woman was killed by her husband.

In Antalya, a man killed his wife with a sharp object following their divorce, and he was arrested. In Dilok, a man shot and killed his wife and was apprehended by the police who arrived at the crime scene.
