The trial of journalist Suleiman Ahmed, who has been detained by the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) authorities for 278 days, begins tomorrow, July, after the Dohuk court in S. Kurdistan postponed the hearing of his case to this date.

The Dohuk court in S. Kurdistan will hear the case of journalist Ahmed Suleiman, who has been detained by the KDP authorities for 278 days, tomorrow, July 29, after it was postponed, as his trial session was scheduled to be held on 30 June.

Suleiman Ahmed was kidnapped by KDP forces at the Fish Khabur crossing on October 25, 2023, while returning to S. Kurdistan, after heading on the first of October, to the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo to visit his family.

His lawyers were able to meet him for the first time 211 days after his abduction, which is a violation of the laws of S. Kurdistan and Iraq, in accordance with Article 123 No. 23 of the 1971 Code of Criminal Procedure, which stipulates that the detainee is allowed to meet with his lawyer within 24 hours.
