Turkish authorities arrested 15 people in the cities of Sirt in Northern Kurdistan and Mersin in Turkey, for dancing and singing in the Kurdish language, under the pretext of "advocating for an organization" in a new campaign to eliminate Kurdish culture.

Their videos were circulated on virtual social media platforms by Turkish nationalist groups, which led to the police raiding their homes and arresting them.

In a similar context, the Turkish authorities' police in the Bazid district of the Gare region arrested six young Kurds on a similar charge for their Kurdish dancing.

These arrests come within the framework of the Turkish state's ongoing attempts to eliminate the cultural and artistic identity of the Kurdish people. These attempts were not limited to geographical and demographic occupation and arrests, but extended to include cultural and artistic attacks, in an attempt to deny the existence of the Kurds by all possible means.
