Siblings of Imrali detainees submit new request to meet them

The brother of leader Abdullah Ocalan and the siblings of other detainees in Imrali Prison have submitted a new request to the Turkish authorities to meet with them.

Today, the brother of leader Abdullah Ocalan, Mohammad Ocalan, through his lawyer Mazlum Dinç, the brother of detainee Omer Khairy Kunar, Ali Kunar, the brother of Hamili Yildirim, Polat Yildirim, and the sister of Veysi Aktaş, Meliha Aktaş, submitted a new request to the Public Prosecutor's Office in the Turkish city of Bursa and the Directorate of Imrali Prison to meet with them.

Lawyers from Al-Asr Human Rights Office submit two requests each week to the Public Prosecutor's Office in Bursa and the Directorate of Imrali Prison to meet with the detainees. Their families also submit two requests each week, totaling 16 requests each month, without receiving any response.

No information has been received about leader Abdullah Ocalan and the other detainees for 40 months.

It is noted that the last meeting with the leader by his lawyers Rezan Sarija and Newroz Uysal, was on August 7, 2019, while his last contact with the outside world was on March 25, 2021, during a 5-minute phone call with his brother Mohammad Ocalan before the call was cut off.
