Damascus government forces and the so-called "National Defense" launched an attack on the cities and towns of the eastern countryside of Deir-ez-Zor canton in the late hours of the night and this morning, using heavy and light weapons, which led to the martyrdom of two civilians and the injury of seven others.

The Syrian Democratic Forces announced in a statement today that two civilians were martyred and seven others were injured in the initial toll of this ground attack by Damascus government forces and the so-called "National Defense" on the eastern countryside of Deir-ez-Zor.

Among the injured were two children who were taken to Hajin General Hospital. The mother of one of them, Ahmad al-Khalil, from the town of Abu Hamam in the city of Euphrates, (9 years old), Fatima Mohammad, a displaced person from the al-Bu Omar area west of the Euphrates River, which is under the control of the Damascus government forces, and currently resides in the town of Abu Hamam in the city of Euphrates, told us the details of the attack.

She said: "My family and I were sitting this morning, and we were surprised by an armed attack. It was a barbaric and random attack on our areas."

She continued, "At 5:30 in the morning, our house was hit by a shell that fell in the middle of it, which resulted in the injury of my child Ahmad in addition to his brothers and my husband. Fortunately, their injuries were minor, but Ahmad's injury was severe. We transferred him to Hajin Hospital immediately, with the help of the neighbors, and he is now in intensive care."

She added sadly: “What did we do to be subjected to these attacks and random shelling? We fled from the regime areas to protect ourselves from the shelling and death, but we found ourselves in the midst of death again because of these armed forces that are attacking our areas.”
