Afrin launches “My Home Is My Right” campaign to return homes

The campaign aims to once again highlight the issue of homes that remain seized in the Afrin region and call for the necessary procedures to be expedited to return them to their original owners. Afrin residents launched the campaign on social media under the hashtag “#MyHomeIsMyRight.”

The campaign began yesterday at the initiative of journalists and activists from the Afrin region under the hashtag “#MyHomeIsMyRight,” or in Kurdish, “Mala min mafê min e.”

Journalists from the region said they have received dozens of complaints from residents about the continued seizure of their homes and their inability to reclaim them so far, noting that hundreds of homes remain outside the possession of their original owners.

They explained that the campaign seeks to bring the issue back into the public spotlight, call for an end to the ongoing seizures, and work toward returning the homes to their original owners.

The campaign organizers called on the people of Afrin and everyone who supports residents’ right to reclaim their homes to participate and help spread the hashtag “#MyHomeIsMyRight,” with the aim of broadening the public discussion around the issue and urging the relevant authorities to take practical steps to address the situation of the homes and return them to their owners.

From Wednesday night through today, hundreds of accounts have used the hashtag, accompanying their posts with photographs of destroyed homes and fields, as well as homes belonging to residents who have still been unable to reclaim them, along with numerous archival photographs of Afrin and its villages.
