Number of Kobani prison martyrs rises to 10

The number of martyrs from the Kobani prison incident has risen to 10 following the martyrdom of Masoud Hamo Rasho, who had been receiving treatment at a hospital in Aleppo after sustaining injuries in the incident.

ANHA correspondents in Kobani reported that Masoud Hamo Rasho, one of those injured in the Kobani prison incident, was martyred late Wednesday evening while receiving treatment at a hospital in Aleppo.

Nine residents of Kobani had previously been martyred after a fire broke out at the city’s central prison in the early hours of Saturday, September 12, while 17 others were injured.

Funeral ceremonies for the nine martyrs were held in Kobani on Monday, attended by large crowds.

Following the tragic incident, Presidential Adviser Mazloum Abdi discussed the circumstances surrounding the incident at Kobani prison with the head of the Kobani District. He stressed the need for a transparent and independent investigation and for those responsible to be held accountable, in addition to strengthening the role of security, judicial and administrative institutions in the city.

For her part, Ilham Ahmed, co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration, confirmed the formation of a special committee to investigate the events that took place in Kobani, particularly those inside Kobani prison.
