During her participation in the “Xwebûn” program on Jin TV, Suzdar Avesta saluted the fighters of the Free Women's Protection Units - Star, and the fighters of the Kurdistan Liberation Movement (YJA Star), and praised their heroic resistance in the face of all the genocidal attacks against the Defense Areas by the Turkish occupation army. She also remembered all martyrs of freedom.

She pointed out the need to evaluate the reality of women in the Kurdistan Liberation Movement and the Guerilla: “Within our movement, we can introduce women according to the approach of leader Apo.  Since the beginning of the struggle for freedom, women have been involved in strategic work as the leader Abdullah Ocalan has given women a role in the struggle for freedom.

“In Kurdistan and the Middle East, women suffered a lot, and standards of slavery and feudalism were strictly applied to the family and women. Naturally, these consequences happen in Kurdistan while woman’s struggle in the mountain despite all these policies indicates the greatness of her goal to discover the truth of the state and the patriarchal system" Avesta added.

Avesta made the point clear that: “Women have been involved in the Kurdistan Liberation Movement and have been going to the mountains for more than 40 years for freedom not just for war.

She stressed the necessity of women’s mobilization. “The difference between women’s militancy among us and other movements is that women have an independent organization. If women do not organize themselves independently, and this will be an obstacle to the success of women’s struggle for Freedom.

She pointed that: “Women joining the ranks of the Guerrilla was not an easy matter. In the beginning, the Guerrilla leaders treated them as their sisters and nieces, and they put them on the rear fronts. But the leader’s approach corrected all of this.

She continued: For example, the comrades Besê Anûş, Sûltan Yavûz, and Rahîme Kahraman, who joined the ranks of the Guerrilla during the first years, remained in the units, one after the other, how these comrades worked to defend themselves, how they lived in the mountainous conditions, and how they preserved their lives?  Each of these comrades was an army. I would like to give an example of this. There was the Bagokê resistance on April 1, 1988, and songs were written about this resistance. Comrade Ayten was part of the resistance, and she was new to the ranks of the struggle, but her free life and her confrontation with the enemy were very different.

She stressed, "I can say that the female comrades who were among the ranks of the struggle during the first period were not only responsible for themselves but they proved themselves and fought for that."

Sozdar Avesta explained, "The biggest opportunity for the Kurdistan Freedom Movement and the Kurdish people is Leader Apo and the he biggest opportunity for the Kurdistan Workers' Party is the participation of women in the struggle.
