DEIR EZ-ZOR

The Finance Body of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has officially approved the general budget allocated to the Executive Council of the Deir ez-Zor region for the year 2025, amounting to a total of $12,037,583 USD. This budget is distributed across four main areas: western, northern, eastern, and central Deir ez-Zor. Priority sectors include public services, education, health, and energy.

In an exclusive statement to ANHA agency, Ziyad Al-Ahmad, the head of the Statistics and Planning Office, revealed that the 2025 projects span various fields, with a particular focus on service-related infrastructure.

According to Al-Ahmad, the largest share of the budget is allocated to the public service sector, including sanitation projects in Sa’wa, Hawaj al-Bumasa’a, Hammar al-Ali, and al-Hissan. Water station development is planned for Kasra Tahtani, Hawaj Dhiab, New Muheimida, Zughair, and al-Bushams. Water network expansions will take place in al-Harmushiyah, al-Kubar, the northern neighborhood of al-Hissan, al-Shahabat, and al-Hawi.

In the northern region, projects include sewage works in al-Suwar (al-Hawi), completion of al-Ja’ar station in al-Harijiya, and expansion of water networks in al-Suwar (eastern and western Hawi). A water line will also be connected from al-Ja’ar station to the Fadain reservoir in al-Harijiya, with additional expansions in al-Namliyah, al-Hariji, al-Hussayn, and al-Muwailih.

In the central region, the plan includes sewage infrastructure at the entrance of al-Basira, the al-Jarf area in al-Basira, and the continuation of sewage works in al-Shuhail and Dhiban. Water station upgrades will cover al-Azib, al-Tuwamiya, and eastern al-Jarzi. Water network improvements include establishing a main water line to western al-Jarzi station, and expanding infrastructure in al-Alusi district (al-Basira), al-Tayana, al-Shanan, Abu Hardoub, and al-Suwaidan.

While no sewage projects are included in the budget for the eastern region, work will continue on water stations in New Abu Hammam, the third station in al-Kashkiyah, and al-Haraj (Gharanij). Water networks will be expanded in western al-Islah (Hajeen Hawamah), Abu al-Hassan, al-Kashmah, al-Sur, al-Wusta, and the water station in al-Furat (al-Baghouz) will be completed.

Approximately 10% of the budget is allocated to the health sector, covering the supply of pharmaceuticals for hospitals, medical centers, and clinics under the Health Authority. Notable equipment procurements include an MRI scanner, a mammography unit, and a four-color echocardiography device for al-Kasrah Hospital. The first floor of the same hospital will be rehabilitated, including the activation of a blood bank and medical laboratory, alongside the delivery of ten ambulances.

Al-Ahmad further stated that 26% of the budget is allocated to the agriculture, energy, youth and sports, women, and environment authorities, as well as to other Executive Council projects. Within the energy sector, a new power substation will be established in al-Kasrah to extend electricity supply hours for residents and water stations. Two generators (2.5 MW each) will also be repaired in the al-Zar sector to increase energy supply in the central region.

In the youth and sports sector, two stadiums will be rehabilitated in Daranj and Muheimida. Funding has also been earmarked for establishing a printing press for the Women’s Authority in the Industrial Area, and for constructing a new headquarters and laboratory for the Environmental Authority. The education sector will focus on the rehabilitation of classrooms, school fences, and other school facilities.

Ziyad Al-Ahmad concluded by emphasizing the administration’s full commitment to executing all projects included in the 2025 fiscal budget, reaffirming that these initiatives aim to elevate living standards by delivering essential services, bolstering public health, stimulating economic development, and fostering a community-based economy.
