Syrian Energy Ministry sets 3 diesel prices

The Syrian Ministry of Energy has set three prices for diesel, ranging from 115 to 175 new Syrian pounds per liter, attributing the decision to the shutdown of the Baniyas Refinery and rising global import costs.

The Syrian Ministry of Energy announced on Thursday that it has introduced three types of diesel at new prices, citing the need to ensure a sustainable supply amid the shutdown of the Baniyas Refinery and rising global prices for petroleum products.

The ministry said the price of a liter of subsidized diesel would be set at 115 new Syrian pounds, equivalent to 11,500 old Syrian pounds, for heating, agriculture and other subsidized sectors.

It added that a liter of diesel for the transport sector and productive and service activities would cost 150 new Syrian pounds, while imported diesel would be priced at 175 new Syrian pounds per liter.

The ministry said the price adjustment was temporary and aimed at ensuring continued supplies, noting that the shutdown of the Baniyas Refinery had increased the need to import refined petroleum products, amid rising prices on global markets.
